When and where is the CMA 2019?
The Congrès mondial acadien will be held in Prince Edward Island and Southeastern New Brunswick between August 10-24, 2019. Please note that it will also be possible to volunteer before and after these dates for certain volunteer positions.

What am I going to do?
There are several volunteer sectors, with tasks varying according to each sector.

I don’t speak French, can I be a volunteer?
Yes, we will have language tools available for unilingual volunteers.
Please respond appropriately on the volunteer registration form.


I’m a person with a disability, can I be a volunteer?
Yes, we will have tasks accessible to everyone. Please specify your limitations during your registration so that we can ensure you’ll benefit fully from your volunteer experience with the Congrès mondial acadien 2019.


Is there a minimum number of hours required to be a volunteer? 
Each work shift lasts 4 hours. This minimal requirement has been put in place to ensure an effective management of volunteer scheduling and a successful CMA 2019. We ask volunteers to be available for two work shifts in order to be considered as a full-fledged volunteers of the CMA 2019.


Can I choose my volunteer schedule?
Scheduling will be organized in work shifts, i.e. mornings, afternoons and evenings.
Ideally, volunteers will choose the period(s) of the day during which they are available and will receive an email regarding their proposed work shift(s). Volunteers will then have to confirm the work shift(s), following which a final schedule will be sent to them by email with all the complementary information.


Can I do more than one work shift?
Yes! In fact, we encourage volunteers to do more than one work shift in order to maximise resources and contribute to the success of the Congrès mondial acadien 2019.


What am I going to wear?
Volunteers will receive a t-shirt with the logo of the CMA 2019, which they will need to wear during their work shift(s). Some volunteers will need to wear appropriate clothing for their functions, for example, formal wear for hosts and hostesses.


How old do I have to be to volunteer?
Individuals 16 years or older can do volunteer work on their own. Young people aged 16 years or younger must be accompanied by an adult. Please note that there is also a minimum age (21 years) for certain volunteer tasks, such as for drivers.


Can we do volunteer work as a family?
Yes, on the condition that children under the age of 16 always be accompanied by an adult.

I manage a business or organization, is it possible to offer the services of my employees 
to do volunteer work?
Yes, certainly. It would be our pleasure to help you organize this. Doing volunteer work is an excellent opportunity to strengthen ties between colleagues and to participate in the advancement of our community and to the success of the Congrès mondial acadien 2019.


Will meals be provided?
Snacks and refreshments will be available at all times in the volunteer lounges. When working schedules require it, volunteers will have access to meals or meal vouchers to local restaurants. More information on this subject will be available during the volunteer training session during the month of July 2019.


Do I need a criminal record check?
No, unless you are working as a volunteers in the following sectors:

Am I protected by a liability insurance while carrying out my fonctions? 

Yes, you will be protected by a liability insurance while carrying out your functions as a volunteer during the Congrès mondial acadien 2019.


Will I have to use my personal vehicle?
Individuals will not need to use their personal vehicle for any transportation duties as a volunteer.
Please note that transportation to your volunteer site is your personal responsibility. You must also be of legal driving age (21 years old) and hold a valid driver's license in order to drive a rental vehicle.


Will parking be provided?
Yes, we will be offering parking options. Details will be made available during the volunteer orientation and training session during the month of July 2019.


Will I receive any free CMA promotional items?
We will give you a t-shirt, but we will also reward volunteers who work for several shifts in various ways, such as draws for volunteers having worked a certain number of hours. More details to follow.


Will there be a volunteer event?
Yes, there will be a volunteer event after the CMA. Volunteers will receive more details on this subject during their training session in July 2019 and will receive an official invitation by email.


Will I have to travel long distances to do my volunteer work?
That will depend on the areas that you have select during your registration. Please click on the link below in order to learn more about the locations of the various events that will take place during the Congrès mondial acadien 2019. We remind you that transportation to your volunteer site is your personal responsibility.


I will be coming from outside the region, is it possible to benefit from an accommodation service?
The CMA does not commit to provide accommodation services. You may, however, consult the following websites to explore the various accommodation options available.

Does the CMA reimburse expenses (bridge fees, transportation costs, accommodation costs)?
The Congrès mondial acadien does not commit to reimburse expenses, with the exception of authorized expenses incurred directly in relation with the duties of volunteers.


If I register as a volunteer, can I participate in the activities?

During volunteering hours, the volunteer must be dedicated to his duties only. 
Volunteers can participate in activities when they are not in function.


Will I receive any training?
Yes, a training session will be offered to volunteers in July 2019. They will also receive a volunteer guide containing relevant information relating to volunteering and the CMA 2019.


Following my registration, what are the next steps?
 

1. You will receive an email from the Volunteer Coordinator in order to verify your availability and to confirm your volunteering schedule.

3. A training session will be provided to volunteers in July 2019; you will receive an email or be contacted by telephone to confirm your attendance.
4. You will receive a volunteer kit containing your accreditation, a t-shirt and other relevant documents during the training session.
5. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your work shift with your t-shirt and your accreditation card.
6. A volunteer event will be held following the CMA 2019. More details will follow.
