A native of Richibucto, New Brunswick, Germaine Guimond is a strong believer in volunteerism. She devotes herself fully to her community as a coach and trainer; in 2013, she presided over the organizing committee of the finals of the Jeux de l’Acadie. Adding to her long list of volunteer activities, she also served as a municipal counsellor for two mandates.
The community aspect of the Congrès mondial is what inspired her to work with the organizing committee.
“Large-scale events such as the Congrès mondial allow communities to work together towards a common goal. The ties that are created are ever lasting and give a renewed sense of community pride.”
Germaine is convinced that this edition will strengthen the relationships between local Francophone, Anglophone and Indigenous communities.
