Emmanuelle LeBlanc and George Belliveau will be the Artistic Directors for the Congrès mondial acadien 2019’s Opening Day and Closing Day celebrations.
Emmanuelle LeBlanc will be the Artistic Director of the Opening Day celebrations on August 10, 2019, in Abram‑Village, Prince Edward Island. This day will mark the 25th anniversary of the Congrès mondial acadien, which was first held in Southeastern New Brunswick in 1994. As for George Belliveau, he will be the Artistic Director of the Closing Day celebrations, which will be held on August 24, 2019, in Shediac, New Brunswick. Originally from Pré‑d’en‑haut (NB), George Belliveau comes from a musical family of five and, as such, has been immersed in the world of music for a very long time. Having explored a more traditional Acadian style with Bois Joli, a group for which he was also the musical and artistic director, George turned to country for his solo career that was launched in 2006 with his album L’amour viendra nous sauver and other subsequent albums. The recipient of numerous prizes and awards, George also directed the series Les Vendordis du Pays at the Pays de la Sagouine in 2014, a production featuring more than 30 artists. The 6th edition of the Congrès mondial acadien will be held from August 10 to 24, 2019, on Prince Edward Island and in Southeastern New Brunswick.
