Set to take place on August 16, 2019, at Riverfront Park in Moncton, New Brunswick, this show will also mark the opening of the Extrême frontière space. The event will be a celebration of the 25 years of the CMA, which was first held in 1994. The show will feature performers including 1755, Les Méchants Maquereaux, Cayouche, Waylon Thibodeaux, Ronald Bourgeois, Donat Lacroix, Lennie Gallant, Jacques Surette, Annie Blanchard, Jason Guerrette and Zachary Richard. An array of special guests will also make appearances during the evening.
Claudette Thériault, chair of CMA 2019, noted the importance of celebrating the history of the largest gathering of Acadians in the world.
“Le Show du 25e is an event bringing together the Acadian people and friends of Acadie,” she stated. “It will feature a line-up of legendary performers from all over Acadie who have helped to shape the history of the CMA over the years. This event will be a major celebration—a look back on the Acadie of 1994 as well as all that it stands for today.”
As mentioned Ms. Thériault, the CMA in 1994 was a milestone event for Acadian music: “This is part of what we want to celebrate through Le Show du 25e while also paying tribute to the newest generation of artists and how they have been influenced over the years by the CMA.”
Taking place the day following National Acadian Day, the celebration will be under the direction of Jac Gautreau of Les Méchants Maquereaux.
As mentioned, Le Show du 25e will also mark the opening of Extrême frontière in downtown Moncton, which runs from August 16 through 23, 2019. This public space featuring entertainment, booths and pavilions will bring together more than 50 artists and musicians from the area and around the world.
